Yelena Popova

Yelena Popova was born in the USSR and lives and works in Nottingham where she has a studio at Primary. She graduated with an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in 2011. Her practice explores abstraction as a set of social, economic and physical possibilities. Her work usually takes the form of painting installations, algorithms and propositions. Yelena spend 2016-17 on an artist's residency at Girton College, University of Cambridge. Since then she has started to paint with soil, design tapestries, talk to scientists and read Wikipedia at bedtime. Yelena is also interested in nuclear history and heritage.
